SCDOT announces that the new diverging diamond interchange at Exit 97 (Broad River Road) will be open to traffic on Monday, 10/28! You can see how to navigate this NEW interchange and the new ramps on the map below. As you navigate the new intersection, please observe all posted signage and law enforcement in the area.

SCDOT announces Interstate Ramp closures at Exit 97 (Broad River Road) as the project team prepares to open the new diverging diamond interchange. Beginning on Friday evening, October 25, the entrance loop ramps will be closed for I-26 East and West. Detours will be in place along US-176 to navigate to I-26 WB and EB until Sunday, October 27. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if possible. If you must travel in the area, please slow down and follow all posted signage, detours, and law enforcement.

SCDOT announces a change in access from Julius Richardson Road to the I-26 Ramps near Exit 97 beginning on October 22, 2024. This access will be closed off and the only access to Julius Richardson Road will be from the intersection with West Shady Grove Road. The intersection of West Shady Grove Road and Broad River Road will be realigned with new turn lanes and the new traffic signals will be operational. View the map below to see these changes.

SCDOT announces that the new I-26 WB ramps at Exit 91A and Exit 91B will be opened on Thursday night, October 10th, weather permitting. Drivers exiting at Exit 91 will use Exit 91B to take Columbia Ave toward Dan Comalander or US-176. Use the Exit 91A loop ramp to take Columbia Ave toward Chapin. SCDOT announces that the I-26 WB loop ramp at Exit 91A will be temporarily closed for the next phase of construction beginning September 16, 2024, weather permitting. The Exit 91B ramp will remain open for westbound traffic.

Drivers exiting at Exit 91B will reach a four-way stop at the intersection with Columbia Avenue, where they can:

• Turn left toward Chapin
• Turn right toward US-176
• Continue straight onto Dan Comalander Road

SCDOT urges drivers to exercise caution while traveling through work zones.

SCDOT announces traffic shifts on both I-26 Eastbound and I-26 Westbound from mile marker 85 to mile marker 101. All travel lanes will be maintained, but will be shifted to accommodate construction work as needed. Traffic shifts will occur throughout the project area until major project construction completion in 2024. SCDOT reminds the public to use caution when driving through work zones.

Ellett Road between Columbia Avenue and Brentwood Court will be closed from October 18, 2021 to December 2024 for Midlands Connection project construction. SCDOT remind the public to please use caution while driving through work zones.

SCDOT announces a 60mph speed limit on I-26 from mile-marker 101 to mile-marker 85. The speed limit will begin on November 4, 2020 and last for the duration of Midlands Connection project construction. Midlands Connection is a part of SCDOT Strategic 10-Year Plan. SCDOT reminds the public to please use caution while driving through work zones.

SCDOT announces night time lane closures on I-26 Eastbound and Westbound from mile marker 85 to mile marker 101. Lane closures will occur between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. on weekdays and between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. on weekends. The lane closures will last throughout the construction duration for the project. Closures will be dependent on weather. SCDOT reminds the public to please use caution while driving through work zones.
