Exit 97 – Rauch Metz Relocation Added February 2024

SCDOT announces the relocation of Rauch Metz Rd at Exit 97 on Wednesday, February 14, weather permitting. You will no longer be able to access Rauch Metz Road from the I-26 on/off-ramps. Watch the video below to learn how to navigate the changes:

I-26 Eastbound Traffic Shift (Exit 97-Exit 101) Added December 2023

SCDOT announces an I-26 Eastbound traffic shift starting December 18, 2023, weather permitting. The traffic shift will begin near Mile Marker 97, just east of Broad River Road, and end near Mile Marker 101, just west of Broad River Road. Both travel lanes will be maintained and shifted to the right onto the final concrete pavement. Traffic shifts will occur throughout the project area until major project construction completion in 2024. SCDOT reminds the public to use caution when driving through work zones.

I-26 Westbound Traffic Shift (Exit 101-Exit 97) Added December 2023

SCDOT announces an I-26 Westbound traffic shift starting January 14, 2024, weather permitting. The traffic shift will begin near Mile Marker 101, just west of Broad River Road, and end near Mile Marker 97, just east of Broad River Road. Both travel lanes will be maintained and shifted to the right onto the final concrete pavement. Traffic shifts will occur throughout the project area until major project construction completion in 2024. SCDOT reminds the public to use caution when driving through work zones.

I-26 Eastbound Traffic Shift (Exit 91-Exit 97) Added October 2023

SCDOT announces an I-26 Eastbound traffic shift starting November 27, 2023 at 7PM, weather permitting. The traffic shift will begin just west of Exit 91 and end just east of Exit 97. The traffic shift will maintain both travel lanes. Both lanes will be shifted to the left across the median onto temporary asphalt pavement to accommodate the construction work zone. Traffic shifts will occur throughout the project area until major project construction completion in 2024. SCDOT reminds the public to use caution when driving through work zones.

Exit 91 (Columbia Avenue) Exit Ramps Open Added September 2023

SCDOT announces the opening of the new Columbia Avenue exit ramps at Exit 91 on Interstate 26 West which will be labeled Exit 91 B- A. The new Loop ramp (exit 91 A) will open to the public on Sunday night September 24, 2023 (weather permitting). The new exit loop ramp, Exit 91 A, will take travelers to Columbia Avenue West towards Chapin. The current Exit 91 B will take travelers toward Columbia Ave East and US-176. SCDOT reminds the public to use caution while driving through work zones.

Ongoing Traffic Shifts Added March 2023

SCDOT announces traffic shifts on both I-26 Eastbound and I-26 Westbound from mile marker 85 to mile marker 101. All travel lanes will be maintained, but will be shifted to accommodate construction work as needed. Traffic shifts will occur throughout the project area until major project construction completion in 2024. SCDOT reminds the public to use caution when driving through work zones.

60mph Speed Limit Added October 2020

SCDOT announces a 60mph speed limit on I-26 from mile-marker 101 to mile-marker 85. The speed limit will begin on November 4, 2020 and last for the duration of Midlands Connection project construction. Midlands Connection is a part of SCDOT Strategic 10-Year Plan. SCDOT reminds the public to please use caution while driving through work zones.

I-26 Night-Time Lane Closures Added October 2020

SCDOT announces night time lane closures on I-26 Eastbound and Westbound from mile marker 85 to mile marker 101. Lane closures will occur between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. on weekdays and between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. on weekends. The lane closures will last throughout the construction duration for the project. Closures will be dependent on weather. SCDOT reminds the public to please use caution while driving through work zones.
