Current Updates

Oversize Vehicle Notice: Due to Midlands Connection project construction, the overall roadway narrows down to 28' in several locations within the project limits between exit 85 and exit 101. The roadway consists of two 12' lanes and two 2' shoulders in these areas. SCDOT reminds drivers to use caution when traveling through work zones.


SCDOT announces a 55mph speed limit on I-26 from mile-marker 85 to mile-marker 91. The speed limit will begin on July 7, 2020 and last for the duration of Midlands Connection project construction. Midlands Connection is a part of SCDOT’s Strategic 10-Year Plan. SCDOT reminds the public to please use caution while driving through work zones.


SCDOT announces night time lane closures on I-26 Eastbound and Westbound from mile marker 84 to mile marker 97. Lane closures will occur between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. starting on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. Closures are needed for asphalt patching on I-26. Closures will be dependent on weather. SCDOT reminds the public to please use caution while driving through work zones.

Detour/Closure Information

Sam Koon Road will be closed at Holy Trinity Church Road beginning Monday, July 13. Scheduled detours are anticipated to be in place until December 2020. The detour route is shown in the map below. The Midlands Connection Project is part of SCDOT’s Strategic 10-Year Plan.


SCDOT announces overpass bridge closures at Holy Trinity Church Road and Parr Road for I-26 Midlands Connection project construction. Beagle Run Road and Clark Road that access Holy Trinity Church Road will also be closed for the duration of the bridge reconstruction. Detour routes have been identified for the closures and are shown in the map below.

The anticipated detour schedule is as follows.
Holy Trinity Church Road: May 4, 2020 – December 21, 2020
Parr Road: May 18, 2020 – January 13, 2021

Detour routes will be appropriately signed to direct traffic in the area. SCDOT reminds the public to please use caution while driving through work zones.
